~ Cross Pollination of Knife Defence ~
Last week (Thursday 30th April), Sensei Jack and I were invited by our good friend Sensei Rob Thornton to showcase our knife‑defence training at his Striking & Grappling Academy in Southam Village and the session did not disappoint.
Rob’s members gathered in close, as our instructors demonstrated safe, controlled knife‑awareness drills using rubber training knives only, before everyone moved into partner work focused on distance, timing, and calm, confident decision‑making.
Both Sensei Neil and Sensei Rob agree that collaboration in martial arts is essential — the cross‑pollination of skills, ideas, and teaching styles is what delivers the very best experience for our students. Last week’s session was a perfect example of that in action.
The energy was brilliant, the engagement was spot‑on, and the whole room showed real focus and respect throughout. A fantastic evening of learning, sharing, and representing both clubs with pride. #strikingandgrappling #ultimatekarate

*INCLUSIVITY WITH ULTIMATE KARATE*
NCW (New College Worcester) invited ULTIMATE KARATE (Instructors - Sensei’s Neil, Michelle & Sam) back again this year to provide coaching tuition to Blind & Visually Impaired children who attended their ‘Open Day’ held on 23rd July!
“It was a wonderful afternoon spent showcasing our skills and imparting experience with knowledge, to such an enthusiastic and inspirational group of young people” ~ There were punches thrown, kicks launched and blocks deployed, with a touch of defence thrown into the mix to deliver an outstanding experience for everyone!
